ESE plays a major role in the NA62 straw detector, covering the following responsibilities:
- studies of straw signal generation and extraction,
- the design of the system architecture, encompassing front-end and back-end electronics and the detector control system (DCS),
- detector-specific software,
- the design, production and commissioning of front-end electronics and readout using an FPGA-based TDC, with data transmission to the Straw Readout Board (SRB) ,
- design, production and commissioning of the DCS with patch panels, cabling, power supplies and hardware monitoring,
- online and offline software for the DAQ, including run control.
