In view of the replacement of VMEbus, the EP-ESE group is studying xTCA based systems and setting up a procurement and maintenance framework. Technical evaluation of MTCA and ATCA shelves have been performed including electrical tests, cooling efficiency, noise measurements and VNA-based backplane bandwidth measurements. The EP-ESE group is also responsible for producing, selling, and supporting the IPM Controller, which is mandatory on all ATCA boards. EP-ESE also organises regular meetings of the xTCA Interest Group.
