This service helps to evaluate, purchase, test and maintain crates for use in experiments at CERN.

Large quantities of 6U and 9U VME crates have been purchased for use in the LHC machine and in the LHC experiments. The repair of these crates is organized by this service via specific maintenance contracts with the manufacturer. In view of the replacement of VME, ATCA-based systems are being studied and a procurement and maintenance framework is being set up. More information is available here.

Standard configured crates can also in some cases be rented from the pool (in small quantities).

Database: Link to the power supply and crate database. It gives access to some technical documentation and allows the ordering or repairing of components.
